The GeoTech PRL 1-point subsoiler is a robust machine that, once connected to the tractor via the 3-point hitch, allows for subsoiling (or scarification) of the soil. Subsoiling is a procedure that involves breaking up the compacted layers of soil, which can vary in depth. This technique is commonly alternated with the use of a rotary tiller, which, unlike subsoiling, does not invert the soil but instead produces the crumbling of clods.
This process offers a significant time-saving, as it reduces the time needed for soil work by half compared to a rotary tiller. It also helps preserve the organic matter content and microorganisms present in the soil. Subsoiling increases the space available for root development, improves drainage capacity, and enhances the soil’s permeability and aeration properties. Unlike plowing, subsoiling does not leave a compacted plow pan.
